Sucrose as an analgesic

A place to share interesting research and articles
Nicola Tonson
Did a brief search on pub med to see what I could find about these. It seems that mostly sucrose has been used as an intraoral analgesic in infants and that they're only just developing it for adults. ..

Have a quick read of the following abstracts if you're interested.

its interesting stuff isn't it? particularly the suggestion in one article that the sweet taste in the babies mouth serves as a distraction to the pain - obviously this isn't going to be the case in an adult who is receiving injections! i'd be interested in seeing the results of any adult trials when they come around, and even just having a read of the theoretical basis of an adult trial would be interesting.
