Just a reminder of the red flags that can walk through out doors.
One of my regular clients came in the other day, complaining of right Si pain that she felt radiated through to the front. Pain had mechanical aggravating factors, but not those you would normally associate with an SI strain. She had no nausea, vomiting, fever, constipation, diarrhoea or UTI symptoms. On examination she didn't have any mechanical findings through out lumbars and pelvis but palpating through the right upper and lower quadrants were quite tender. She had no rebound tenderness and Murphy's sign was negative. I treated her and suggested that if she was still in significant pain she head to her GP for a check up. An ultrasound demonstrated an enlarged appendix...
Good little lesson that conditions aren't textbook in the real world, and physical exams can give false negatives... At least now I know what an inflamed appendix might feel like.
